Due to popular demand, a second AARP safe driving course has been added at Takoma Regional Hospital Feb. 24-25.
This two-day course, newly updated and revised, teaches defensive driving techniques for senior adults. The course will be offered Wednesday, and Thursday, Feb.24-25, in the Everett and Carolyn Coolidge Volunteer Conference Center at the intersection of Coolidge Street and Takoma Avenue from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days. Lunch will be provided by Takoma Regional Hospital.
The class offered on Feb. 10-11 is full.
AARP members who produce membership cards on Wednesday, Feb. 24, can take the class for $12. (If you have lost your card, you can obtain your membership number by calling 1-800-687-2277.) If no membership number is provided, the cost of the course is $14. Checks should be made payable to AARP.
“Because they recognize the effectiveness of the course, auto insurance companies offer discounts to AARP graduates,” Lindy Riley, Takoma’s director of volunteer services, said. “Best of all, participants don’t have to take a test, but they do have to attend both days of the class for credit.”
